About your legal name and your LuxID Account

Why LuxID asks for your name

When you create a LuxID Account, you are asked to provide your first name and last name. LuxID uses this information to:

  • Identify you within your account settings
  • Share your name with LuxID Partner services when you consent to it (for example, so a partner service can address you correctly)
  • Comply with applicable regulations

Your name and display name

Your name as stored in your LuxID Account is the name you provided during registration. This is typically your legal name as it appears on official documents.

LuxID Partner services may display your name when you sign in using "Sign in with LuxID." The specific data shared depends on what you consent to when authorising each partner service.

Who can see your name

Your name is visible in the following places:

  • Your LuxID Account settings - Only you can see this when you are signed in.
  • LuxID Partner services - Partner services you have authorised may display your name according to the permissions you granted.

LuxID does not make your name publicly visible on the internet.

How to update your name

If your legal name has changed (for example, due to marriage or a legal name change), you can update it:

  1. Sign in to your LuxID Account (opens in a new tab).
  2. Go to Account.
  3. Update your first name and/or last name.
  4. Save the changes.
Important

Your name should reflect your actual identity. LuxID may require verification if a name change is flagged as unusual.

Identity verification with LuxTrust

If your LuxID Account is linked with LuxTrust for identity verification, your verified name comes from the LuxTrust identity proofing process. For how to link LuxTrust, see Link your digital ID to your LuxID Account. In this case, your name in LuxID reflects the name on your official identity document and may not be editable directly. Contact LuxID support if you need to update a verified name.
