Use passwords and passkeys across your devices

Using your LuxID password across devices

Your LuxID password works on any device with a web browser. Simply go to the LuxID sign-in page (opens in a new tab) or the sign-in page of any LuxID Partner service and enter your email address and password.

To manage your password across multiple devices conveniently, consider using a password manager. See Password managers for recommendations.

Using passkeys across devices

Passkeys are a modern, passwordless way to sign in to your LuxID Account. A passkey is stored on your device and uses biometrics (fingerprint, face recognition) or a PIN to authenticate you.

Syncing passkeys across devices

Passkeys can be synced across your devices through your platform's built-in credential management:

  • Apple iCloud Keychain - Syncs passkeys across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices signed into the same Apple Account.
  • Google Password Manager - Syncs passkeys across Android devices and Chrome signed into the same Google Account.
  • Password managers - Many third-party password managers (such as Bitwarden, 1Password, Dashlane, and others) can store and sync passkeys across platforms.

Using a passkey on a different device

You can use a passkey stored on your phone to sign in on a computer:

  1. On the computer, go to the LuxID sign-in page and enter your email address.
  2. When prompted for a passkey, choose the option to use a device nearby.
  3. Scan the QR code with your phone.
  4. Authenticate on your phone (fingerprint, face, or PIN).

This is useful when signing in on a public or borrowed computer without registering a passkey on it.

Adding passkeys on new devices

When you get a new device:

  1. Sign in to your LuxID Account (opens in a new tab) using your password (or an existing passkey on another device).
  2. Go to Security.
  3. Register a new passkey for the new device.

You can register multiple passkeys for different devices.

Removing passkeys from old devices

If you sell, lose, or stop using a device:

  1. Sign in to your LuxID Account (opens in a new tab).
  2. Go to Security.
  3. Remove the passkey associated with the old device.

For more information about passkeys, see Passkeys.
