Unrequested password reset messages
Why did I receive a password reset email?
If you receive a password reset email from LuxID that you did not request, it most likely means that someone entered your email address on the password reset page (opens in a new tab) by mistake.
This does not mean that your account has been compromised. As long as the person does not have access to your email inbox, they cannot complete the password reset process.
What should I do?
- Ignore the message. Do not click any links in the email. The password reset link will expire on its own.
- Do not share the link. Never forward a password reset email to anyone.
If this happens repeatedly
If you receive unrequested password reset emails on a regular basis, consider taking these precautions:
- Enable 2-Step Verification. Adding 2-Step Verification to your LuxID Account provides an extra layer of protection, even if someone were to learn your password.
- Make sure your email account is secure. Change your email account password and enable 2-Step Verification on your email provider as well.
- Contact support if it keeps happening. If you keep receiving reset messages you did not request, contact LuxID support at support@luxid.lu.
How to tell if a reset email is legitimate
Legitimate LuxID password reset emails are sent from notification@msg.luxid.lu. If you receive a password reset email from a different address, it may be a phishing attempt. Do not click any links and delete the message.
For more information about identifying legitimate LuxID messages, see Receiving messages from LuxID.
